Born in Chatou in 1942, the painter Jean-Pierre Daubin is representative of the admirably creative epoch that was the 60s, with its artists who were original in style, but perfectly at ease technically.
And this can still be felt 50 years down the line.
He studied at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts in Caen under Ch. E. Pinson, and has lived in Normandy since 1945 with an interlude in Paris from 1980 to 1990. Jean-Pierre Daubin's first exhibition took place in
Caen in 1963, and since, a fine national and international career has unfolded for him, which unhesitatingly proves the value and longevity of this exceptional painter's talent.
While respecting with natural efficiency the reading of the real, Jean-Pierre Daubin, with a brushstroke honed with a lively stroke, accentuates the motif's real or evoked dynamism, and from seascapes
to landscapes, sport to floral composition, and nudes to characters, he attracts the eye through his incisive and elegant style. His faithful layouts and unusual framing, with his palette of
well-calculated colours, acquire a vitality and a harmony that are characterized by impetus and contemporary bursts. A sporty or serene analysis is triggered by the artist's bold figurative style
that is brilliant as well as captivating, and renewed through an incontestable flare.
