Alexandra Jeanne-Valès was born in the region of Ile de France before moving to Calvados while still young. For Alexandra, following her artistic calling meant the difficult job of being a model
at the 'Ecole de Beaux-Arts' in Caen and in various other workshops, just like her famous precursors including Suzanne Valadon and Berthe Morisot.
She then became manager of painting galleries and exhibitions before realising her vocation was to devote herself to producing personal creations with dry pastels, and exhibit the perfectly
admirable result of her work.
Alexandra Jeanne-Valès's originality is not only to be found in her style. For example, her dry pastel and oil pieces are characterised by a rare power in the use of colours. Using candour,
and at times analysis and shading, she is able to open us up to a universe of heavenly ranges of colours that are daring in every way.
As for her portrayal of reality, Alexandra Jeanne-Valès masters it with real elegance in the graphics which, combined with her brilliant colours, displays a strictly contemporary style.
Her appealing and attractive way of reproducing the duality in faces, bodies, flowers, and still-lifes reflects a creativity born of passion and intelligence.
